WHAT F2 SPEEDWAY … ISN’T

The best way to start is to say what Formula 2 Speedway is NOT.

Its is NOT to replace speedway.

Hopefully we have been able to clear up this misconception.

WHAT F2 SPEEDWAY … IS

F2 Speedway intended to operate as a way of introducing more riders to speedway without the enormous expense. F2 Speedway will still provide an exciting motorcycle sport but make is much more affordable by making machinery cheaper to buy and maintain.

Among the aims of F2 Speedway is to gain the interest of mainstream manufacturers like Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW, KTM, Yamaha and WK. We aim to catch the interest of the public who wish to learn to race speedway, riders (and even ex-riders) who would like to ride for fun. This in turn will lead to suppliers, dealers, shops, and sponsorship.

THE F2 SPEEDWAY STANDARDS

The F2 standard is very simple, keep engines as STANDARD. ALL the same. The specifications to race are as follows:

ENGINES

450cc

Single cylinder 4 valve PETROL engines

Unit construction (ie combined engine and gearbox), utilizing the standard carburetor/injection and ignition system. Stock engine management system (with standard rev limiter etc. using factory settings).

NO Changing or modifying, no after market parts or engine modifications allow.

ROLLING CHASSIS

Standard speedway equipment including wheels, mudguards, seat, handlebars etc

Diamond needs to be constructed /or modified to fit the engine plates for the engine.

Exhaust pipe not the same as on a methanol powered machine.

MAINTENANCE

The only maintenance required during a season would be to wash the bike and clean the air filter.

Not required: Adjusting clutch, lubricating primary chain, rebuilding engine.
